What You’ll Learn In Creator Startup Cohort 2
Your Pitch Deck
In this chapter you’ll learn about the dynamics of the advertising business and complete your pitch deck. We’ll also focus on what brands can purchase from you. and you’ll learn how to build a “menu” of offerings.
We’ll kick off the course by discussing the 5 stages of a creator startup to give you an overview of where you are at in your business and where you are headed. Then, through 8 videos, you’ll build out the pitch deck that you’ll be using to work with brands. We’ll also take you through our Brand Deal Financial Planner Template and show you how to predict revenue and keep track of your partnerships. We’ll close the chapter discussing the biggest friction points that are common for creator businesses to run into and how to handle them.
Getting a Yes From the Brand
In this chapter, you’ll learn how to use your completed pitch deck to show brands exactly why they should work with you. You’ll learn your role in the pitch process and how to negotiate a contract that makes sense for you.
We’ll begin chapter 2 with an overview of the pitch process. You’ll create a list of your north star brands, and we’ll dive into what to do when a brand reaches out to you. From there we’ll talk about best practices for doing cold outreach to the brands that you want to work with. We’ll share a conversation with our agent, and discuss the process of working with representation. We’ll also share a conversation with the CEO of a major brand to talk about what brand’s look for when working with creators. We’ll close out the chapter by discussing the legal side of brand partnerships, and walk through a vetted contract template that you can use for your deals.
Execution & Renewal
In chapter 3, you’ll learn how to navigate working with brands after the contract is signed. We’ll walk through how to create a good integration and how to turn a single brand deal into a long term partnership.
The final chapter of Creator Startup begins with a walkthrough of the execution phase of the pitch process. We’ll discuss the exact steps of the execution that you need to look out for, and how this part of the process could change depending on if it is “Brand-Led” or “Creator-Led”. We’ll also talk about how to create a great integration that overdelivers on the brand’s expectations. We’ll conclude with an outline of what you need to do in order to turn a one-off deal into a long-term partnership.
